Today marks two weeks since the murder of 64-year-old Graham Pennycook in Ludgershall, and the police investigation continues.
Graham had been out walking his dog on Thursday 24th September in woods near the polo field, close to Perham Down, but failed to return home.
Sadly, Graham was found deceased in the woods later that day, and a murder investigation was launched by Wiltshire Police's Major Crime Investigation Team.
Detectives strongly believe that he was assaulted whilst in the woodland.
No arrests have been made, but detectives are working at pace to establish the full circumstances of the incident, and a crime scene remains in place – this is likely to remain in place into the weekend.
Officers continue to appeal to members of the public for information.
- Did you drive along Somme Road, the unnamed road bordering the polo field, Shoddesden Lane, and the A3026 between the hours of 9am and 6pm on September 24?
- Do you have any dash cam footage or CCTV available?
- Did you walk in the area of the polo ground and surrounding woodland on September 24?
- Did you see or hear any suspicious activity in the area, specifically between the hours of 10am and 11am?
- Did you notice anybody acting suspiciously that day, maybe somebody that had new unexplained injuries, changed their plans, or disposed of their clothing?
Det Chief Insp Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Two weeks ago today, Graham was out walking a familiar route to him, with his dog, but tragically he never returned home and was found deceased in woodland.
“Our team of officers have been working tirelessly over the past two weeks to establish the circumstances surrounding Graham’s death. Due to the nature of Graham’s injuries, which came to light as a result of the forensic post-mortem, we strongly believe that he was assaulted within the woodland near to the polo ground.
“Graham’s family are being supported by specialist family liaison officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
“We are urging members of the public to think back to the day in question – did you see anything which could assist our enquiries? Every piece of information, regardless of how small or insignificant it may seem to you, could be crucial to our investigation and finding out exactly what happened to Graham. So please, get in touch immediately if you can help.
"If you have further information which could assist our investigation please contact us on 101 or leave information on this dedicated website.
"You can also leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
