Salisbury City Council has approved the transfer of remaining Section 106 funding for Queen Elizabeth Gardens into its general reserves.
The £39,830 will go towards replacing at least one footbridge in the park.
The original £45,550 funding was set aside for bridge maintenance, with £5,720 already spent on structural surveys, drawings and associated plans.
The council says replacing the bridge will help maintain public access through the park and support the future of the open space.
Council leader Sam Charleston said starting the work now would help secure Queen Elizabeth Gardens as a community hub for residents.
