Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm to host 300 Girlguides

Girlguiding South West England’s popular Roadshow events are in full swing, with the first parent/girl event of 2023 happening on Sunday, 21 May, at Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm, Wiltshire.

Around 300 girls – from the youngest Rainbows right through to Rangers - and their families have been given the opportunity to enjoy a family day out, learn more about Guiding and take part in the farm activities.

The day will start with an introduction from the Region’s Chief Commissioner, Laura Cottey, who will showcase the opportunities Girlguiding South West England offers its 45,000 members across our 16 diverse Counties and Islands.

There will be highlights from the past, plus information on the exciting activities, fun and adventures is planned for the following year.

Girls and their families will get a chance to meet the Chief Commissioner team before exploring everything the farm offers, including a climbing wall brought in by Girlguiding South West England.

Local Girlguiding would like to provide even more opportunities and experiences for girls and young women across South West England, and with nearly 8,500 girls on the waiting list, they are looking for new volunteers to join in the fun.

By giving just one or two hours a week, being a Girlguiding volunteer could see you going around the world accompanying girls on the trip of a lifetime, spending a weekday evening helping them learn a new skill, or enjoying an action-packed outdoors adventure weekend as you make your own lifelong friendships.

Volunteering is flexible and doesn’t have to be a weekly commitment.  There are lots of different roles to choose from to fit in with your lifestyle, and you will receive all the training and support you need.
