Become a volunteer CCTV Operator in the city

Salisbury City Council are seeking volunteers to monitor and operate our digital CCTV and radio system.

Salisbury City Council has been operating the CCTV system since September 2018.

A team of volunteers monitor the CCTV system at key times in the communications hub inside the control room at Bourne Hill. The CCTV system recently underwent a £25k upgrade with additional cameras added.

Keith Jackson, CCTV Manager, said: “We have recruited and trained many groups of volunteers, and they are doing a great job.

“We are gradually increasing our team; we have places on a CCTV Operators course in the autumn, which need filling.

“If you have good communication skills, are able to work to a high standard under pressure and are committed to Salisbury’s security and public safety, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Volunteers must be able to commit to 16 hours a month at minimum. This substantial role requires a high degree of commitment, as there is a lot to learn, but it is extremely important and rewarding.

You will be trained to a professional standard and work within a strict code of practice.
