Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after an officer was shot in the leg with a suspected catapult.
Police said in a statement, "At just after 9.30pm on January 17 an officer witnesses motorbikes being ridden at Z crossing, Everleigh, on Salisbury Plain, without lights or number plates. When asked the vehicles failed to stop.
"The officer has left his vehicle to find his thermal scope in the rear of the vehicle and saw a bike in the woods to the left. At which point, something has hit his left leg with quite some force, causing bruising. The bike has immediately started up and made off again, lights off.
"If you saw anything suspicious in the area, or have information that could help our enquiries please contact us through our website or by calling 101 quoting reference 54260006598."
