A new Chief Executive Officer for Salisbury City Council

Salisbury City Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Asa Thorpe as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The role, which was previously known as ‘City Clerk’, is responsible for the governance of the Council and for the strategic management of responsibilities as directed by the elected Leadership group.

Asa joins the City Council following a 20-year career that has spanned several public sector organisations across Wiltshire and Hampshire.

His experience covers a range of public services, which meant he was a good fit for the appointments panel, chaired by senior Councillors from each of the political parties in Salisbury.

Graduating from the University of Birmingham, he has spent time working in housing, criminal justice, the National Health Service, and local government.

He commented, “I am looking forward to working with Councillors and Officers at Salisbury City Council, and delivering on behalf of the residents, businesses and visitors of this great city.”

City Council Officers and Councillors welcome Asa Thorpe to the role, which he started on 5 February 2024.
