This bank holiday weekend, a group of friends are travelling 515 miles to Scotland to climb the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis.
The summit of the mountain is 4413 feet, and one of the group has never climbed a mountain before!
They’re doing it to raise much-needed funds for local charity Rise:61, who work primarily with young people and want to help a generation of young men rise up.
Rise: 61 says that, "Because we need men. Good men who can sustain good relationships as friends, sons, brothers, fathers, and grandfathers. Men who can be relied upon. But men need support too, and for this men need to be talking to men. Young men need positive role models in real life, not online influencers trying to make money out of them.
"There’s been a lot of talk about toxic masculinity recently, but this is a great example of men using their strength, energy, and time to help raise up the next generation."
Visit their GoFundMe page to donate, https://www.gofundme.com/f/9-men-climbing-the-highest-mountain-in-the-uk-for-men
Or make a donation on their website, www.rise61.org
All funds will go towards supporting the work of Rise:61 on Bemerton Heath, including the work they do in engaging with young men.
