The school holidays in Harnham are once again set to start with a bang! This year’s Harnham Fun Day and Parish Fete takes place on Saturday 25 July from 2 – 5 pm in the Parish Hall and Scout Hall and adjacent Field on Lower Street, SP2 8EY. We know from last year that the kids will be queueing for the climbing wall and Jodie the face painter. This year there’s something extra too – an arena featuring Connor’s Children’s Disco, a demonstration of Morris Dancing by Sarum Morris, a Workshop by Perform, and live music from our local folk group Maerefolk.”
Once again, Harnham Harvest Table are launching their summer season, and Salisbury Museum will be joining us with an activity stall. All the usual Fete stalls will be there – home-made cakes, sweets, books and bargain bric-a-brac. The'll be a plant stall, and you’ll also be able to buy home-made jewellery, cards, and fluffy toys.
Of course, there will be great prizes on the raffle, the bottle tombola and wrapped bottle stall, and you can try your hand at hook-a-duck, the coconut shy, skittles, pick a stick, and splat the rat. The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be there with their patrol car, or hopefully a Fire Engine too.
Refreshments will include a beer or pimms bar, cream teas, hot dogs, ice lollies, ice cream cones and soft drinks.
And if it all gets a bit too much for the younger ones, they can chill out in Wiltshire Family Hub’s Sensory Tent, or with Messy Church.
Three points for adults to note please: parents will need to sign a simple consent form for children to use the climbing wall, children should wear suitable clothing for the climbing wall (nothing loose or baggy, and suitable footwear), and there will be card payment facilities available on the site, but do bring cash if you can. All the proceeds for the event will support the work of Harnham Parish and Harnham Scouts.
