Wiltshire Police say they are aware of ongoing community concern after reports of suspicious incidents in Salisbury over the past few days, involving allegations that men in cars approached children.
Police say they understand that these incidents have caused worry within the community, particularly amongst parents and carers.
Wiltshire Police are treating each report seriously, and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances and identify those involved.
It is important to remain vigilant. However, officers are asking the public to allow them time to carry out their enquiries and establish the facts of what has occurred.
Wiltshire Police add they are keen to hear from anyone who may have information that could assist their investigations, including any CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage relevant to these incidents.
DI Eirin Martin said: “We take reports of this nature very seriously; however, we would like to caution that speculation on social media and sharing of unverified information can cause unnecessary alarm and may hinder ongoing investigations.
“We encourage parents to take the opportunity to speak to their children about personal safety and what they should do if they ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe.”
