Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity has announced the launch of Flight to Funding – a unique opportunity for secondary schools, sixth forms and colleges across the region to get creative and support a cause which saves lives every day.
Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of Dragons’ Den, this exciting new competition asks students to plan and pitch their own fundraising events in support of the Charity’s lifesaving work.
The winning student will then work alongside experienced mentors and the Charity team to turn their idea into reality. “Flight to Funding is a fantastic way for young people to get involved in something that makes a real difference,” said Rebecca de la Bedoyere, deputy director of income generation.
“It’s not only about raising money – it’s about inspiring the next generation of changemakers and community leaders.”
Three finalist students will be shortlisted and invited to present their ideas to a panel of ‘Dragons’ in early 2026. These judges include key members of the Charity team and supporters from our Business Club.
Saffron Rabey, Business Development Manager, BMW Dick Lovett Melksham and Mayor of Melksham, said, “I thrive on identifying creative ways to bring new ideas to market and helping businesses to grow. Supporting young people as they explore these skills is something I’m genuinely passionate about, and I’m excited to see what they come up with!”
Josh Dolman, Commercial Director, Elevate Cloud “I help local businesses modernise the way they work through smarter communications and IT solutions. I’m really pleased to be involved in the competition, it’s a brilliant idea for young entrepreneurs to share their ideas, gain insights from industry experts and develop skills.”
Helen Griffiths, Fundraising Team Leader, Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity “I joined the Charity in 2025, bringing over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the fundraising team. I am passionate about creating collaborative, purpose-driven partnerships that drive both growth and meaningful social impact.”
The winning team will receive full support from these mentors to bring their idea to life during the summer term of 2026, gaining valuable experience in planning, budgeting, communications and teamwork.
The journey will culminate in an awards ceremony and cheque presentation in September 2026.
The competition officially launches this autumn, with application packs and resources available now.
Entries are open until January 2026. For more information or to sign up, visit our website at www.wiltshirebathairambulance.org.uk/flight-to-funding
