A popular Salisbury tradition will return this year with a light-hearted contest that brings together workplaces, visitors, and residents in a celebration of shared local spirit.
For just 30 minutes, participants from across the community will swap their everyday roles for frying pans, as teams and individuals take part in a fast-moving challenge to claim the coveted Golden Frying Pan. The line-up promises an entertaining mix, with competitors drawn from retail, law, faith groups, broadcasting, and local government, alongside members of the public.
Those wishing to take part are encouraged to register soon, while spectators are invited to attend, support the competitors and help create an energetic atmosphere.
While the event is known for its humour and friendly rivalry, it also highlights the importance of community action. The same collective effort that fills the streets on the day is what supports local foodbanks throughout the year.
Community is built through people supporting one another — whether by volunteering time, offering resources, or ensuring that no one goes without. That principle underpins both this event and the wider work it represents.
Come along on Shrove Tuesday (Tuesday, 17th February) and be part of it:
