A teenager was rescued after getting swept away in the current on Sunday evening (17th March) in the river Nadder at Lower Bemerton.
Crews from both Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and partners in Hampshire and Isle of Wight were called to reports of a person hanging onto a tree above the river.
When crews from Dorset and Wiltshire arrived, they quickly put safety in place whilst they awaited the specialist water rescue teams' attendance.
Water rescue specialists from Fareham were alerted at around half-five to support partners in DWFRS with the incident off Lower Road in Salisbury.
The casualty was caught up in tree branches when firefighters in a water rescue boat reached and recovered him before he was passed into the care of ambulance paramedics.
Once the specialist water teams arrived, they quickly managed to rescue the casualty out of the water and away from any danger, leaving them in the care of the ambulance service.
A Fire and Rescue spokesperson said, "Take caution when entering rivers as even the most experienced swimmers can be pulled under by strong currents. Give yourself an easy route in and out of the water, ensuring it’s not too deep and avoid fast-moving rivers."
