Spot the Flying Scotsman in Salisbury tomorrow

The iconic Flying Scotsman is set to steam into Salisbury Railway Station tomorrow (24th March 2022).

Described as the most famous steam locomotive in the world, the National Railway Museum’s Flying Scotsman will power out of London Victoria tomorrow taking guests on a day trip to Salisbury.

The iconic train was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works to a design by H.N. Gresley. It was the first locomotive in the UK to officially reach 100mph.

The locomotive was employed on long-distance express trains on the London and North Eastern Railway and was named after the passenger service from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh Waverley on the east coast mainline.

On a special trip organised by Steam Dreams, the train will make an appearance in Salisbury residing at the railway station while passengers explore the cathedral city.

Anyone looking to spot the locomotive in Salisbury should not trespass or crowd at stations.
