Salisbury welcome Maidstone the Ray Mac this Saturday

Salisbury welcome Maidstone United to the Ray Mac on Saturday for the first competitive meeting between the two sides.

It's not the first time that The Stones have visited the Ray Mac however, there is an FA Trophy meeting in January 2010 when Salisbury City beat Maidstone 2-0. The visitors then repaid the favour when they beat City 2-0 at home in November 2012.

Maidstone have made what many might describe as an OK start to the season, they have only lost three league games so far this season, but have drawn half of their matches so far, with two draws in their last two league matches.

United came from behind to rescue a point against 10-men Bath in midweek. Maidstone had led at halftime after coming from going behind to a Scott Wilson goal at Twerton Park. Goals from Ben Brookes and Antony Papadopoulos turned the game around.

Maidstone fell behind again as Jordan Alves put Bath back in front just after the hour mark before the home side were reduced to 10-men when Jack Batten was sent off. It took until the 4th minute of added time at the end of the 90 for Sam Corne to finally break Bath's resolve and level things up at three-three.

Prior to that Maidstone were knocked out of the FA Trophy by Horsham of the Isthmian League Premier Division and pegged back by a late goal in a 1-1 draw away against Torquay United.

Salisbury come into the game after completing a three-nil victory over Farnborough in the FA Trophy. The win lifted the mood in the camp after a tricky run of games that left Brian Dutton's side without a win six in the league.

Goals from Noah Coppin (2) and Callum Watts left the visitors stunned and their manager Spencer Day in a foul mood as Salisbury hit three quick-fire goals in a 12-minute spell that Farnborough failed to cope with.

The Whites will be looking to bring that ruthlessness in front of goal into their league form and move up the table.
