Salisbury's unbeaten start to 2026 continued with a home draw against Hampton and Richmond on Saturday afternoon (24th January).
The game, played in wet and windy conditions at the Ray Mac, was often a hard watch, with neither side ever doing enough to win the game.
Second-half goals from Josh Sommerton and Reece Grego-Cox ensured the points were shared.
Will Buse was forced into the first meaningful action of either keeper in the 22nd minute. He punched away a header from Harry Thomas after a well-delivered Sam Deadfield corner from the left.
Buse was forced into another save when Sam Ashford's downward header skipped off the wet surface, and the Salisbury keeper did well to turn it behind for a corner in the 42nd minute.
Alan Massey climbed the highest from the resulting corner, and Buse was equal to it, acrobatically tipping the header over the bar as Hampton & Richmond built some pressure as the half ticked towards its conclusion.
It wasn't until the 45th minute that Salisbury tested Matt Rowley in the Hampton goal. Josh Keeya's drive from the edge of the box forced a good reaction stop from the keeper.
Josh Hedges worked his magic as he looked to break the deadlock deep into the six added minutes at the end of the first half. He skipped into the box from the left after a short corner. He shot from an acute angle and could only find the side netting, and the game remained goalless at the break.
The start of the second half wasn't a great advert for National League South football, with neither side able to make any significant inroads.
Salisbury finally sparked into life in the 63rd minute. Josh Hedges found Josh Sommerton as he whipped the ball in from a free kick on the left. The Salisbury skipper stooped to head home at the back post to give the home side the lead.
The game reflected the weather in the second half, with the game mostly bogged down in midfield. It took until the 87th minute for the visitors to register a shot on target in the second half - and it led to them levelling. Reece Grego-Cox is heading home from a free kick whipped in from the right-hand side.
Salisbury pushed to get back in the lead towards the end, a Tommy Willard shot deflected just wide as it clipped Noah Coppin in the 5th minute of added time, but in the end, neither side were able to do enough to win the game.
