Salisbury slump to defeat on the road at Bath City

Salisbury travelled to Bath in their first midweek away fixture of the season.

The Whites started the brighter of the two sides seeing most of the ball in the hosts half in the early stages, the first chance of the game came when Jordan Ragguette drove into the Bath half and played in Noah Coppin just outside the penalty area, the forward turned well but his strike sailed over the bar.

Moments later Salisbury got a throw deep into the Bath City half, Cameron Coxe found Ronan Silva, who turned and shot but Wiles-Richards in the hosts net got down well.

In the 22nd minute, Bath took the lead. Alves was the player to score with a fine finish, beating Lincoln, finding the nearside bottom corner.

Ten minutes later, Callum Watts almost continued his hot run of form in front of goal with a testing shot that forced Wiles-Richards to produce a fingertip save onto the post.

In the second half, Craig Fasanmade and Ryan Penny arrived in place of George Franklin and Ronan Silva, a change that also tweaked the Whites' shape.

In the 52nd minute, some good play from Coppin resulted in Watts getting behind the Bath fullback. Watts put a dangerous low-driven ball In, but no one was there to turn it home.

In the 72nd minute, Jaden Perez replaced Owen Dore.

Salisbury continued to have most of the possession, but the Bath City defensive shape was strong and allowed little room for the Whites to create anything. Watts managed to wiggle some room in the middle of the half, but his shot was met by the gloves of Wiles-Richards

Josh Hedges and Jordan Ragguette linked up well on a couple of occasions late on, but a threatening opening would not appear.

The fourth official signalled four additional minutes. Two minutes in, Hedges managed to find some space in the box. Hedges found Cameron Coxe's head at the back post, but his header went wide, much to the disappointment of the travelling Whites' support.

The attendance at Twerton Park was 885.

Salisbury will now turn their attention to Saturday at the Ray Mac, when Hemel Hempstead come to town.
