A parish meeting has been arranged for Salisbury's residents to discuss the Salisbury City Council parish precept, which forms part of our Council Tax payments.
The meeting is not a City Council meeting, but it is a meeting for the community arranged by the council.
Parish meetings are called for by their residents and can be attended by and spoken at by any parish residents.
The parish meeting will be held on Wednesday, 22 February 2023, at 1800 at Salisbury Guildhall.
The meeting will consider the following items as set out in the notice, which is published today.
Do Salisbury residents support:
a. A limit on any proposed increase to the parish precept by 5% per year
b. If an administration wants to increase the precept by more than 5%, then a parish poll should be required?
The result of any poll taken during the meeting are viewed as an expression of the community but are not legally binding.
The meeting is being held at the cost of the City Council, and therefore, the cost is coming from the public purse.
