Salisbury were forced to share the points with Chippenham Town after leading by two goals to nil, with the home side fighting back for a two-two draw.
Salisbury led after a good start to the match, with goals from Matty Taylor and Matt Briggs giving Brian Dutton's side the lead. However, Chippenham were given a foothold in the game as Tom Davies headed into his own net, before Henry Sady scored directly from a corner to level the game in the second half.
The visitors started the game on the front foot, trying to play on the front foot and pressing Chippenham high up the pitch. This created openings, with Noah Coppin having penalty shouts turned down and an effort saved by Will Henry in the opening 20 minutes.
Again, good pressing created a chance for Matty Taylor to break down the left, his low effort was again well saved by Henry and turned away for a corner just after the midway point of the half.
Then the breakthrough came, good pressure from Matt Briggs saw him race into the box and the wide man showed good composure to pick out the awaiting Matty Taylor, who calmly applied the finish to score for the former Bristol Rovers forward's first goal of the season in the 28th minute.
It didn't take long for Salisbury to double their lead. Ollie Morgan's curling effort from the right was so close to doing so, but the rebound fell to Matt Briggs, and the provider became the goal scorer just five minutes after the opening goal.
Salisbury were looking the better side and keeping Chippenham at arm's length until a bit of a strange moment let the homeside back into the game.
A fairly routine corner was delivered into the box. Tom Davies rose unchallenged, looking to head the ball away from the 6-yard box, but inadvertently headed it into his own net in the 39th minute. This own goal gave the home side hope and renewed energy.
Both sides went close to adding to their tallies before half-time, Caine Bradbury firing wide from an acute angle before Noah Coppin curled one inches wide in the dying moments of the half, leaving Salisbury to lead by two goals to one at the end of the first half.
Chippenham came out for the second half and immediately started to pressure Salisbury's backline. Sol Wanjau-Smith fired a warning shot just wide within two minutes of the restart.
The homeside didn't create too much in terms of chances for the next 10 minutes, but were dominating possession and moving Salisbury around well.
The leveller came just after the hour mark, when substitute Henry Sady levelled directly from the corner. His whipped corner sailed over everyone's heads and beyond Will Buse into the top corner.
Chippenham pushed on again, with both Colwell and Parsons having shots narrowly missing the target, but it was Salisbury who had the best chance to grab a vital third goal.
Josh Hedges found himself just a couple of yards out when the ball found its way to him. The Salisbury forward made good contact with the ball, but Will Henry produced a stunning save to turn the ball up and over the bar to deny the visitors with 82 minutes on the clock.
Just a minute later, Will Buse showed his quality at the other end of the pitch, when he turned Tom Mehew's strike, which looked destined for the back of the net, onto the bar to keep the game level.
Neither side was able to break the deadlock before the final whistle was sounded; a draw was the result, which doesn't really help either of the Wiltshire-based sides, who both find themselves in the relegation places.
Salisbury's league season continues on Saturday (8th November) as they travel to Chesham United - kick off at 3pm.
