Salisbury man pleads guilty to multiple driving offences following 47-mile pursuit

A Salisbury man has pleaded guilty to multiple offences following a 47-mile pursuit earlier this week.

Ryan Moore, 20, of Carmelite Way, appeared at Salisbury Remand Court yesterday morning (11th December), where he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, failing to provide an evidential sample and using fraudulent registration plates.

At approximately 11:05 pm on December 9th, police sighted a black Mercedes A Class on Avon Approach in Salisbury, where it was seen in a suspected drugs deal. There was also information to suggest the vehicle was being driven on cloned plates.

The Mercedes, driven by Moore, immediately failed to stop for officers and led them on a lengthy pursuit through and out of Salisbury on the A30, onto the A303 and then onto the M3.

Officers from Hampshire joined the pursuit on the motorway as Moore reached speeds of 120mph, weaving in and out of traffic as well as entering a stretch of roadworks.

Moore eventually stopped at Fleet Services after his car ran out of fuel. He then failed a drugs wipe for cannabis, and the vehicle was confirmed to be on cloned plates.

Following his guilty plea, Moore was remanded into custody to await sentencing in January.

PC Pedliham, of Salisbury Community Policing Team, said: “I am pleased that Moore has entered a guilty plea and has been remanded in custody. By leading officers on such a lengthy pursuit, he showed clear intent to evade police and put the public at risk due to his poor decisions and incredibly dangerous driving.

“This was a good piece of collaborative work by Wiltshire and Hampshire Police, and if Moore hadn’t run out of fuel when he did, I am confident he would have been shortly brought to a safe stop by these Specialist units.”
