Salisbury Football Club are pleased to confirm that Sido Jombati has signed a new contract, keeping him at ‘The Ray Mac’ for the team’s first season in National League South.
The 36-year-old Lisbon-born defender will wear the team’s new white shirt this season after captaining the side to promotion via the play-off final last season.
Jombati’s career has taken him to clubs including Weymouth, where he first played at this level, before moving to Bath City and into the football league with Cheltenham Town. He then moved on to Wycombe Wanderers, where he played for six seasons in both League One and Two.
Jombati arrived at Salisbury via Oldham Athletic and Ebbsfleet United.
Club officials say, “Sido demonstrated calmness on the ball and from the spot, scoring a last-minute penalty on his debut against Beaconsfield Town.“
The season culminated in Jombati lifting the play-off final trophy at
AFC Totton as the club sealed promotion.
On extending his stay at the club, Mr Jombati told Salisbury Radio, “I’m so excited to be back with this skilful young squad and looking forward to adding my experience and professionalism again.
“It’s amazing to see the quality of the team, management and support at Salisbury; it really does take all of us to make things happen.
“Let’s keep the momentum of last season, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year together! COYW”
Whites Manager Brian Dutton is pleased to have Jombati to call on. He said, “I’m so pleased to be welcoming Sido back for another season. He was integral to our success last season, and his experience will be vital again for our young developing squad.
“I’m sure the fans will be delighted to welcome the cult hero back for another campaign.“
