Re-living that 'Viva Espana' feeling at local care home

Salisbury care home 'Old Sarum Manor' recently hosted their annual summer party for residents, staff and their families.

The summer party was Spanish themed, which was chosen by the residents to bring back memories of treasured summer holidays.

Entertainment was provided by a Spanish flamenco dancer with residents and guests enjoying tapas and sangria.

The staff got involved dressing up as Spanish bulls and Matadors, and the residents enjoyed wearing Spanish accessories and playing castanets. Other activities included a raffle, tombola and a best dressed competition.

Raffle winner, Mrs Bright, whose husband is a resident at the home, said, “It was a great day and the food was wonderful.”

Through the day’s activities, £385 was raised for Old Sarum Manor’s charity of the year, the Care Workers Charity, whose work supports the almost 2 million care workers in the UK.

Old Sarum Manor's General Manager, Michael Berkley-Blezard, said, “Once again, the team came together to throw an amazing party, celebrating the Spanish culture. This was a social event with much love, laughter and enjoyment for people of all ages.

“The Spanish dancing was very well received, and many people joined in. Everyone was having a great time. Well done to the Old Sarum Manor team for the dedication and commitment shown to ensure this was another memorable event. We look forward to our 5th Anniversary Party in October 2025.”
