Wiltshire Police Licensing Officer is warning people heading to pubs for the World Cup matches that if they are badly behaved in one venue, they are likely to face a ban from all local pubs.
The scheme works by creating links between licensees, allowing information to be passed quickly between each other and the police. It means that licensees and venue operators can work together to reduce alcohol-related crime, anti-social behaviour, and substance misuse in their nighttime economies.
The Salisbury PubWatch network is supported by Salisbury BID, Wiltshire Police, Salisbury City Council, Wiltshire Council, and Street Pastors, and comprises members from across Salisbury.
Members of PubWatch regularly meet and discuss issues relating to social responsibility, the safety of its regular customers and visitors to the area.
It also provides a forum where licensees can share problems and solutions.
Wiltshire Police Licensing Officer, Richard Tottle, said: "Pubwatches meet monthly as part of the National Pubwatch Scheme, working closely with local policing teams and Wiltshire Council. They share information on issues affecting the alcohol trade, particularly individuals displaying poor behaviour, which often results in bans from member venues. They also discuss the wider night-time economy, including training and best practice.
"With more people expected in pubs during events such as the World Cup, venues are working together to prepare. Visitors are encouraged to drink responsibly, respect others, and be mindful of local residents when arriving and leaving venues."
