Stonehenge, a site steeped in ancient mystery and wonder, will once again play host to an extraordinary building event over May half term.
English Heritage invites children and adults to grab hammers, saws, nails, and wood to construct Playhenge – a temporary adventure playground designed and built by its young visitors!
English Heritage is partnering with Woodland Tribe – the UK’s masters of constructive play – to help children and families collaborate and create an ever-evolving, imaginative structure, just as the builders of Stonehenge did 5000 years ago.
Inspired by the spirit of collaboration and innovation that may have guided the original builders of Stonehenge, Playhenge offers a hands-on experience bridging the gap between ancient and modern-day construction and play. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to design and build their own Playhenge, fostering creativity and teamwork in a playful and engaging environment.
Julia Richardson, Operations Manager at Stonehenge, said, “Playhenge is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows our visitors to connect with the spirit of creativity and collaboration that has inspired humans for millennia. By providing tools and materials for DIY play this half term, we aim to offer a contemporary twist on the timeless wonder of Stonehenge, inviting families to build, play, and create unique memories together.”
Let your imaginations run wild in helping to build an amazing temporary adventure playground at the Stonehenge visitor centre this May half term. In this exciting event, real tools will be safely used by children and their adults to build the play structure of their dreams using natural materials.
Key Information:
