Pitton pupils help collect for foodbank

Four pupils at Pitton Primary School have helped collect items for local food banks.

To boost donations, they devised a cunning plan to swap cakes, crafts, and other items for food donations, with parents and other pupils being able to swap rather than buy cakes.

The four pupils, Harriet, Lara, Scala, and Matilda, all in the years 5 and 6 class, came up with the plan after Lara saw how empty the donation basket was when shopping with their parents and decided they wanted to help.

Lara told Salisbury Radio, "When I went to the supermarket, I looked in the donation box, and there was hardly anything in there, so me and my family thought I could do something to help."

They teamed up and put a plan into place, gathering a nice big pile of donations.

They also sold the remaining cakes and will use the money to buy more food to donate to the food bank.

We are collecting this weekend at Tesco Extra on Southampton Road, Salisbury, between 10 am and 2 pm this Saturday.

We are also at Salisbury FC's Ray Mac stadium ahead of kick-off this weekend. We are asking supporters to 'Bring a tin to the Match' as the Whites take on Merthyr Town. We will be in the car park from 1:30 p.m. until kick-off.
