Peregrines pull a hat-trick as a third egg is laid

Salisbury Cathedral’s peregrines have pulled off a hat-trick laying a third egg just 56 hours after the second.

The third egg was laid at 2.20pm today. The prize for the first sighting goes to RSPB member Nicola Bowes, who spotted the egg on the live webcam.

Now the question is, will there be more?

According to Salisbury Cathedral, peregrines tend to lay between two and five eggs, previously, the cathedral’s falcons have laid around three or four.

To be in with the chance of naming the parent falcons, enter Salisbury Cathedral's ‘Name the Parents’ competition.

Salisbury Cathedral invites residents to submit nature-inspired names for the male and female peregrine adults to be in with a chance of winning two tickets to the Flower Festival on a day of your choice.

Names should be relating to flora and fauna, from local wildlife to exotic blooms. The cathedral would also love to hear your reasons for choosing these names too.

The winning entry will be selected at 2pm on 1st April 2022 and will be contacted by email.
