More recycling bins for the city

Salisbury City Council has been awarded a grant to enhance the number of recycling bins in the city.

The successful grant application of £15,000 was awarded by the Neighbourhood Development Programme and is being funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities.

The grant will cover the purchase of 18 new waste and recycling bins in the city centre as well as their installation and recycling collections.

Moving forward, it is expected that both the Fisherton Street Gateway Project and River Park Project will also provide an increase in the number of street recycling bins in the city and Salisbury City Council say they are working with Wiltshire Council and the Environment Agency to ensure this happens where possible.

Leadership group member, Cllr Annie Riddle said, “I am very pleased that the City Council was successful in receiving a grant for new recycling bins. One of Salisbury City Council’s aims under its Environmental Policy is to increase the recycling of city generated waste and reduce the waste going to landfill. The grant will really help in making this happen and I ask the public to make sure that they continue to take care of our City by putting litter in bins or taking it home.”
