Wiltshire Police have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, following an incident in Salisbury last night (27th March 2022) where a car was thought to have been deliberately driven at pedestrians.
A man and a woman were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by the car, which mounted the pavement in Fisherton Street before driving away from the scene.
The male suspect was arrested last night after a search and is currently in police custody.
A police cordon is currently in place on Fisherton Street with traffic reduced to a single lane. The police are unsure when the cordon will be removed.
Detective Inspector Dean Garvin said, “This is a deeply concerning incident in which a vehicle appears to have been deliberately driven at pedestrians. Two people were injured and taken to hospital. Their injuries could have easily have been much, much worse.
“We are asking members of the public to contact us if you were in the area of Fisherton Street, Salisbury at about 9.45pm yesterday (27th March 2022) and witnessed what took place.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of a Blue Skoda driving around Salisbury City Centre late last night.
"If you can help, please call us on 101 quoting log 305 of yesterday’s date (27th March 2022)."
