Local Radio Day 2021

Salisbury's local radio station is today celebrating Local Radio Day.

The annual event is a celebration of the work that local radio stations have in their communities.

The event is co-organised by Salisbury Radio's founder David Harber along with a team from Somer Valley FM in Somerset.

Today sees almost 250 UK radio stations including the BBC local radio network participating.

This year’s theme is ’Love Your Place’, wherever that may be – wherever you feel you belong – working in your local business, being with family, out in nature, or maybe playing sports

Whatever place you love, we want to know about it.

Throughout the day, Salisbury Radio is out and about catching up with listeners, local businesses and community organisations so we can learn why they love their place.

David Harber says, “We want to thank everyone who listens to our station and supports us. Recent months have shown the importance of being connected with your local area.”

Salisbury Radio has been delivering local content and 'just great songs' since the demise of previous local station Spire FM.

Salisbury Radio is due to launch on DAB (Digital Radio) soon - but a 'test service' is already available online and on 'Smart Speakers' - a method that's seeing a huge growth in listenership.

To listen to Salisbury Radio for the first time on an Amazon Alexa Smart Speaker, say, "Alexa, enable Salisbury Radio". Thereafter you can simply request to "Play Salisbury Radio".

“Today, we’re pleased to link-up with almost 250 participating stations in locations across the UK, including the BBC local network", adds David.
