Salisbury City Council has a new councillor in the form of Liberal Democrat Valentina Milos.
Newly elected Cllr Milos was elected to the St Edmunds ward, as just over 1,000 voted in the by-election caused by the death of former councillor Bob Gann.
She received 379 of the 1022 votes cast, beating Sue Nettle into second place, with Owain Fitzsimmons and Larry Pender trailing in third and fourth, respectively.
It increases the size of the City Council's largest Party, the Liberal Democrats to 11 of the 24 councillors.
"I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured by the trust the residents of St Edmunds have placed in me," said Councillor Milos. "Having lived in Salisbury for over a decade, I am inspired to give back to this kind and vibrant community. I look forward to working alongside my ten hard-working colleagues to tackle the issues that matter most, from improving and enhancing vital public services, including our city's public toilets, to championing a greener Salisbury."
The Salisbury Liberal Democrat Group states that it is committed to delivering the best for Salisbury, focusing on local priorities such as enhancing the city centre, advocating for improved local services, and ensuring the responsible expenditure of taxpayer money.
Group Leader Cllr Sam Charleston commented: "Valentina is a fantastic addition to our team. Her experience and dedication will be invaluable. This result confirms that residents want a local council focused on getting the basics right and delivering improvements to the public services residents rely on. With 11 councillors, we are in an even stronger position to work tirelessly for a brighter future for all of Salisbury."
