You could be Rocking Around The Christmas Tree from next month as Salisbury BID and Salisbury Radio have joined forces to create ‘Salisbury Radio Christmas’ - a radio station dedicated to Christmas music while promoting events and cultural organisations in the city centre.
Whether you’re Christmas Wrapping the kids’ presents, looking to be festively inspired or just enjoy being part of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, ‘Salisbury Radio Christmas’ will be available online, on smart speakers, via the Salisbury Radio mobile app and via the Salisbury Radio and Experience Salisbury websites.
Experience Salisbury Manager Becca Conner says, “We’re excited to be bringing Salisbury Radio Christmas to the city, playing non-stop Christmas classics alongside carefully curated community messages about Salisbury’s Christmas events and activities.
"Whether you listen at home, in the car, or in your shop or office, enjoy listening to all of your festive favourites, whilst supporting our local businesses and organisations. Tuning in to this brilliant new station is another way for the local community to support local, support Salisbury this Christmas."
If you Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day, this unique local radio service is your Sleigh Ride destination on the dial, as it will play only Christmas songs, lightly dusted with occasional information about businesses, events and activities happening around the Salisbury city centre area.
The project is part of a collaboration with Salisbury BID, Experience Salisbury and Salisbury Radio and will be available from Saturday 1st November until Sunday 26th December.
Radio station managers hope that shops in the city centre will play Salisbury Radio Christmas in their stores. Research shows that festive music in the retail environment helps increase sales ahead of the big day.
Salisbury Radio Managing Director, David Harber adds, “We’ve had a word with the big man in the red suit and he’s already promised to make the occasional appearance on-air.
“We hope bringing the Spirit of Christmas back to the city will help us promote the efforts of the local businesses and organisations that make Salisbury such a beautiful city each festive season."
Salisbury Radio Christmas is available by asking your Smart Speaker to "Play Salisbury Radio Christmas" from Saturday 1st November.
