Interactive sculpture to arrive in the high street

Salisbury's high street is going to provide an interactive way for people to reflect.

Salisbury BID and the Arts Council have commissioned artist Tim Scrace to create a temporary sculpture in the pedestrianised area.

The new installation should be complete by this Friday (21st May 2021) and will remain in place throughout the summer.

The sculpture called 'This Too Will Pass' will celebrate movement and reflection. It is built using recycled paper, polished stainless steel and stones from Salisbury Cathedral’s works yard.

Tim said, “I am keen for the sculpture to be interactive, a place and a platform for the community to reflect on the past, make sense of this moment and to build a better future.”

Tim adds that people will be encouraged to move between the three-part sculpture. Over the summer Tim will collaborate with students from Wiltshire College who will be on hand during the weekends to encourage the public to interact with the work and respond to the questions using chalk.

Salisbury BID originally commissioned the sculpture as part of the 800th anniversary of Salisbury Cathedral. Further sculptures incldung one from Angel of the North artist Anthony Gormley will go on show at the Cathedral later in the year.
