Officers from Wiltshire Police are investigating an incident at a Salisbury convenience store on New Year's Day.
A police spokesperson said, "At approximately 3.50 pm on January 1, a man entered the Spar shop in Gainsborough Close, Bemerton Heath, and attacked an 18-year-old man with a hammer.
"Fortunately, the victim sustained only minor injuries.
"We are appealing to the public for information in relation to this incident and have released a CCTV image of a person we would like to speak to in connection with the assault.
"Anyone with information, including anyone who was passing the area and may have dash cam footage, should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240000170.
"Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
