We are being invited to take part in the "Salisbury Glow Ride" on 22nd October to shine a light on the need for safer streets and better cycling routes.
The event is women-led but open to everyone; local people across the UK are organising glow rides, supported by the cycling campaign charity Cycling UK.
COGS (Cycling Opportunities Group Salisbury) is organising the Salisbury Glow Ride.
We are being asked to learn more about how women are often put off cycling because of a lack of safe cycle routes, and how we can change that.
The Event is expected to be a bright, colourful, gentle ride around the streets and parks of Salisbury, lasting no more than 45 minutes.
The rides, lighting up streets with bike lights, glow sticks and vibrant clothing, are part of Cycling UK’s My Ride campaign. Our Right —which highlights how women are more likely than men to be put off cycling by fears of heavy traffic, poor road infrastructure and intimidating behaviour from drivers.
Participants can join the event by registering on the Cycling UK website cyclinguk.org
Find Salisbury on the Glow Rides map and follow the link provided. Participants can also simply turn up on the evening of the ride if they wish.
