Later this month a series of garden parties will take place in Salisbury's Cathedral Close.
Organised by Jane Ebel, the parties are free to attend and open to everyone. At the party books, jams, tea, coffee and cake will be on sale with proceeds going to Silver Salisbury.
Last year the garden parties raised £1500 for local charities and the NHS.
“This year, we are hoping to attract visitors from Eastern European and African communities, particularly the older generation, who may not know many people in the area.
"The long term aim is to be inclusive and to offer these group activities in the community that they might not know about through the Silver Salisbury programme,” explained Jane.
Silver Salisbury is a programme for older people in the local area. At the end of September, the Silver Salisbury programme will showcase a range of activities such as walking, bowls, computer skills, swimming, music and arts and crafts, which people over 50 are welcome to take up.
The next garden party will take place on 22nd August 2021 from 11am-3pm. There will be live music from the local singer/songwriter Becca Maule
and Becky Price, who will play Central European folk music. Tea, coffee and delicious cakes typical of central and eastern European cuisine will also be served.
On Saturday 24th August the garden party will have an African theme to raise funds for EdUKAid, another local charity that supports women and girls in Tanzania, particularly in education.
