A former Salisbury student has today released a new single which expresses emotions around the change in seasons.
Former St Edmund's student, Venceslava Golden-Hann is a London-based independent singer and 'occasional producer' and has today released her latest single 'Morana' to a global audience through digital platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Venceslava who grew up in Salisbury moved to Bristol few years ago to study before moving to London to work on her career in music and law.
Her new single 'Morana' is available across all streaming platforms from today. ‘Morana’ is a sexy, dark and soulful song with a touch of jazz.
Morana is the name of the Slavic goddess of winter who is associated with seasonal rites, based on the idea of death and rebirth in nature. The song tells 'a tragic love story' between Morana and Vesna (the goddess of spring), who forever have a heartbreaking lust for one another, but will never actually be able to live in 'the same world, at the same time'.
The song has inspiration from Slavic folk stories and Greek mythology along with the songwriter's own perspective and experiences of the change in seasons since moving away from Salisbury.
Venceslava told Salisbury Radio, "I've become very conscious of nature and the change in seasons since leaving Salisbury.
"Now I live in London, I truly appreciate nature and see London as a city in which greenery is very thinly spread."
Venceslava attended Bemerton St John Primary, St Edmunds Secondary and then South Wilts Grammar Sixth Form.
She was part of a choir for the majority of her time at school and attended singing lessons with Mr Lawson and Mrs Randall, both of whom she credits for helping her achieve a Grade 8 in Singing.
Venceslava adds her new single was was made possible with the help of musicians Nii (on production) and Zofie (on saxophone).
