Salisbury Cathedral will be holding a special Family Crib Service for Christmas Eve.
The short afternoon service is perfect for all the family and especially suitable for younger children as it tells the Christmas story in a joyful and fun way.
Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus are told using the words of the four Evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – played by Cathedral staff and members of the congregation. The service has been created by The Revd Ross Meikle, the Cathedral’s Missioner for Young People.
The service will include music sung by the Cathedral Choir choristers, joined by the Cathedral’s Youth Choir and Junior Choir, accompanied by Organ Scholar Jacob Costard. There will also be an opportunity for families to join in singing favourite Christmas carols and hymns.
The Revd Ross Meikle, who will lead the service, said: “This is my first Christmas at the Cathedral, and I’m so excited to share what will surely be a truly special experience with the people and families of Salisbury as we retell the Christmas story.”
The service will be held at 1pm and 2.30pm on Christmas Eve in Salisbury Cathedral. No booking is required. Doors will open half an hour before each service.
