Detectives from Wiltshire Police have thanked members of the Ludgershall community for their patience and cooperation now that the crime scene in relation to Graham Pennycook’s murder has been lifted.
The cordon, which was located in the woods near the polo field close to Perham Down since the murder investigation was launched 12 days ago, was lifted this morning (12/10), and there is no longer a police presence at the scene.
Despite this, the investigation into Graham’s murder continues.
Officers say that Graham was out walking his dog on September 24th when he failed to return home. Sadly, he was found deceased in the woods later that day.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “The crime scene and associated cordon have now been lifted after our team of officers completed key forensic examinations at the location.
“While there is no longer a visible police presence at the scene, our investigation remains active and continues at pace. The removal of the cordon should not be seen as any reduction in our efforts, and dedicated detectives and specialist officers are continuing a range of enquiries to progress the investigation.
“We remain committed to establishing the full circumstances surrounding this incident and would continue to urge anyone with information to get in touch.
“It does not pass me by that the heightened police presence and cordon in the area will have increased anxieties for local people and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Ludgershall and Perham Down for their continued support and patience, which has enabled us to carry out our enquiries without disruption.”
