Salisbury City Hall has begun offering COVID-19 vaccinations to 5-11-year-old children who are clinically extremely vulnerable or immunosuppressed.
To make the environment as child-friendly, welcoming and fun as possible, the team have decorated the centre with a ‘Superhero’ theme.
A spokesperson for the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said, "When children and their parents or guardians arrive for the jab they will be greeted by superhero way finders and display boards, they will receive stickers, be invited to have a go on the photo/graffiti board, and enjoy other superhero-themed activities and decorations as they become ‘Vaccine heroes’."
There are also plans to have Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs at these sessions.
Fiona Hyett, Director of Operations at City Hall Vaccination Centre, commented, “We realise that some parents may be hesitant or have concerns about bringing their children for the COVID-19 vaccination. However, we want to assure them that the vaccine is safe and our team is very skilled in administering the jabs to children and those who may get nervous about the vaccination.
"We encourage all parents and guardians to get their eligible children vaccinated to help keep their family, friends and the community safe.”
