Bradbury House, located near Old Sarum, a Wiltshire Council-run care home providing short breaks for adults with physical and learning disabilities, has been praised for creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where people can thrive.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out an assessment between 6th and 16th October 2025. Inspectors gave the home a Good rating across all areas and highlighted the dedication of staff and the positive experiences of people and their families.
Highlights from the assessment include:
- Right support: People are kept safe and supported by well-trained staff who understand their needs. The home has made thoughtful adaptations to improve accessibility
- Right care: Support plans are tailored to each individual, and families describe staff as caring, respectful, and committed to providing high-quality care. Professionals also praised the collaborative approach to planning and delivering support
- Right culture: People and relatives feel confident, valued, and listened to. A strong management team ensures continuous improvement and fosters a positive atmosphere for both staff and residents
The report also shared people’s experiences of the service. Relatives said people received good support from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. One relative said their family member adored going: “She can’t wait, she counts it down and marks it on her calendar.”
Another added: “It’s a lovely building and a lovely atmosphere. They work very hard. They’re a good bunch.”
Cllr Gordon King, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: "Bradbury House is a shining example of compassionate, care which is focussed on the person. It’s clear the team goes above and beyond to make every stay special so congratulations to everyone involved. We’re proud of the warm, welcoming environment they’ve created and the difference they are making to people’s lives."
