Art in The Square, Salisbury’s monthly outdoor art market, returns to the Market Square on Sunday 4th October.
The event brings together artists and makers for a day of original art, live music and creativity in the heart of the city.
Organised by Salisbury Arts Scene, Art in The Square takes place on the first Sunday of the month from March to December, giving visitors the opportunity to browse and buy original work directly from local professional artists.
This month, artists and makers will transform the Market Square into their galleries for the day, showcasing paintings in acrylics, watercolours, oils and mixed media, photography, metal art and hand-painted and crafted jewellery. We also have a range of mounting and framing options on
display.
Sally Edwards, Coordinator of Salisbury Arts Scene, said: “Autumn is the perfect time to refresh your home with some new beautiful artwork, and I am so excited about the variety of artists we have coming to this month’s event!”
Creative art workshops
Visitors inspired by the artwork on display can also get creative themselves at the regular creative art workshops, led by resident artist Richard Greathead.
Half-hour sessions run between 10 am and 3 pm, cost £5 per person and include the materials needed to take part. No booking is needed, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
Live music in the Market Square
Art in The Square will also feature live music from Tony Rogers on sax, playing 10 am-12 pm; folk duo Nobody’s Business, 12-2 pm; and guitar duo Guitarras Neuvo, 2-4 pm. Visitors can enjoy refreshments from Konjo Coffee while exploring the artists’ displays, meeting the people behind the work and enjoying the entertainment.
