A vintage hymn day is coming to St Andrew’s Church in Newton Tony and will give singers the chance to sing their favourite classical hymns and rediscover some long lost gems.
The organisers are looking for singers who wish to take part and sing the hymns they once sang at school. They are also looking for some additional help from:
skilled and keen singers who can lead the way amongst the congregation.someone who can help Zoom the event to the American Hymn Societya local person who is skilled with WordPress or Squarespace to help set up a Hymn Singing website.Vintage Hymns run events that aim to bring back the singing of classic and wonderful hymns into people’s lives, from which they have often all but disappeared.
The event will be led by Phil Price, the Assistant Conductor from London Gallery Quire and will include participation in a Sung Evensong.
The day will revive the joy of singing hymns, especially in harmony, and the afternoon will finish with a service of Evensong using hymns and settings that would have been typical for a parish church over the last 200 years.

Singers are encouraged to bring their own lunch to eat in the Village Memorial Hall or arrange lunch for 1pm in the nearby village pub - The Malet Arms, Newton Tony.
