More Information (Salisbury Radio is not responsible for external websites)

All are welcome to join us for Choral Evensong on Sunday 28 September as we celebrate eight centuries since the dedication of the three altars in the East End, or Trinity Chapel as we know it today.

The service will be sung by the Cathedral Choir, with the sermon given by the Treasurer, Canon Kenneth Padley. Following Evensong, the congregation will process to the Trinity Chapel, where prayers will be offered and the choir will sing an anthem in the space dedicated 800 years ago.

The original dedication fell on the Eve of Michaelmas (the Feast of St Michael and All Angels). The day after, the Cathedral welcomed Archbishop Stephen Langton, and just three days later King Henry III visited. These events are recorded in the medieval cartulary known as the Register of St Osmund, part of the Cathedral’s treasured archive.

Join us as we reflect and celebrate this significant part of the life and history of Salisbury Cathedral.
