Wiltshire Creative, alongside a wide range of local artists, is launching an expanded programme of creative opportunities for all ages at Salisbury Arts Centre.
Workshops and courses, across multiple art forms, are now open for booking.
The new season runs from 11 April through to the start of the school summer holidays, with activities including one-off workshops, adult art courses, writing groups, music-making for young people, early years music sessions, and professional development for artists—all available via the Take Part pages on the Wiltshire Creative website.
In total, 20 brand new activities led by 16 local creatives will animate the Art Room, the White Room Studio, the Media Room and, when available, the main performance space. A volunteer-run café will also be trialled every other Thursday from 23 April, offering low-cost refreshments in a relaxed, buggy-friendly setting. The Silver Salisbury Grandparents Group, supported by the Wiltshire Family Hub, already plans to meet there on those days, and everyone is welcome.
Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative, said, “It is fantastic to see this revitalised Arts Centre participatory offer increasing the animation of the building. It’s particularly pleasing knowing that the programme is led by artists and shaped by the community. Much to look forward to and enjoy.”
Since September 2025, the Take Part team has collaborated with residents, volunteers, local artists and teachers to develop a programme shaped by community insight, sitting alongside existing activity at the Arts Centre such as Dance Six-0, the Wiltshire Creative Academy and Stage 65 Youth Theatre.
All the artists leading the programme live locally and are motivated by the chance to invite more people to try something new and build a sense of community.
Glass artist Helen Southwell said, “I’m really looking forward to sharing my passion for light and colour through fused glass workshops in this wonderful venue full of beautiful stained glass… what better inspiration?”
Musician and educator Asta Hodgson, who will lead early years sessions from April, added, “Working with the Arts Centre has helped me reconnect with Salisbury—and music is such a powerful way for parents to connect with their children and with each other.”
With more local artists, more ways to get involved and more spaces filled with creativity, this season marks a vibrant new chapter for the Arts Centre—inviting everyone to step in, try something new and be part of Salisbury’s creative community.
